JAPAN'S DISASTER.
Total Casualties From 'Quake Reach 4774. AMERICA OFFERS HELP. LONDON, March 9. A message from Tokyo says the latest report received by the Japanese Home Office gives the total casualties in the earthquakes yesterday as 4774. Of these 1009 represents the number killed in the Kioto Prefecture. Dispatches from Washington state that the United States Secretary of War, Mr. Dwight F. Davis, has cabled an offer to Tokyo of American aid in connection with the disaster. Mr. Davis has requested the American military attache at Tokyo to inquire whether the United States War Department can assist.
