DAIRY PRODUCE BOARD.
BUTTER AND CHEESE REPORT. The Xew Zealand Dairy Produce Board has received the following market report from London, dated March 4: — Butter.—Xew Zealand: Finest, 164/; first 162/; unsalted, 172/ to 174/. Market still quiet, all butters. Australian: Finest, 156/ to 160/; unsalted, 160/ to 166/. Argentine: Unsalted. finest, 152/ to 156/. Dutch: Unsalted, 184/ to 186/. Danish: 186/. Retail price Xew Zealand unchanged, Danish 1/10. Continental demand shows slight improvement, but is still slow. Cheese. —Xew Zealand: White and coloured, finest, 88/; first, 87/. Demand still slow. Canadian: Finest white, coloured, 96/ to 98/. Demand slow. English: Finest farmers, 116/ to 120/. Short supply. Retail prices unchanged. The board has also received the following advice from its agents in Vancouver and Montreal: — Butter. —Vancouver, 39M cents (l/7%d). Buyers are still cautious, and await developments. Manitoba and Saskatchewan now producing a surplus which is being shipped mostly to Eastern Canada. Montreal, 4V* cents (1/8 5-8). Butter stocks at March 1, 28,637 boxes, cheese 120,763 crates. Xew York, 50% cents (2/l%d).
