Mr. G. W. Wild, of Hamilton, Government instructor in agriculture, has left on a business visit to the Chatham Islands. Mr. and Mrs. John Tait and Mr. and Mrs. Beaumont Smith have returned to Auckland from a tour of the Dominion. Mr. and Mrs. Tait leave for Sydney tomorrow by the Tahiti. Mr. T. C. Hewitt, 8.E., B.Sc., A.0.5.M., of Morrinsville, who was recently engaged at the Arapuni hydro-electric works, will leave by the Ulimaroa to take up an appointment in Australia. Staying at the Central Hotel are: Dr. and. Mrs. J. McKellar, Mr. A. J. Whyt, Mr. W. Sinclair. Mr. T. H. Thompson (Dunedin), Mr. E. Moore (Milton), Mr. .J. Brinkman (Taumarunui), Mr. H. Waters (Christchurch), Mr. J. Alexander (Te Puke). The Mayor, Mr. C!. Baildon, accompanied by Mr. H. R. Mackenzie, Chairman of the Harbour Board, and a party of four visitors from Wellington left on Sunday in the launch Paikea on a fishing excursion along the East Coast. The Mayor will be away from Auckland for a week. A resolution expressing regret at Mr. H. J. Lowe's retirement as Commississioner for North Auckland Land Board, was unanimously passed at a meeting of the Mangonui County Council. The chairman • and members spoke in high terms of Mr. Lowe's valuable services and administration, dealing with difficult problems in a difficult district. Kidd and Mr. M. J. Coyle went south on Friday night, accompanied by the secretary *of board, Mr. H. A. Sommerville, also to attend the conference. Mr. W. Wallace will preside at the conference in his position as president of the Hospital Boards' Association. A large representation is expected from the smaller boards of the Dominion, who have sent forward a large number of remits to be considered.
