PEACE OF PACIFIC.
Sir Hugh Denison Visualises Future. DOMINIONS AND AMERICA. NEW YORK, February 27. The Australian Commissioner to the United States, Sir Hugh Denison, addressed the members of the New York branch of the Canadian Club. He said he looked forward to the time when, in the event of future trouble in the Pacific, Australia, Canada and the United States would unite, not only to maintain, but to order peace for the common good. The speaker said the Declaration of Independence by the American colonists had paved the way for the present British Empire. That action had caused the statesmen of that time and those who came later to amend their policies. Sir Hugh said he believed that in the next 50 years the centre of the Empire j would probably have moved to Canada.
