MISCHIEVOUS SWIMMERS.

DAMAGE TO THAMES WHARF. BY-LAW TO BE ENFORCED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) j THAMES, this day. The harbour engineer reported at the last meeting of the Thames Harbour Board that adult swimmers at the Turua wharf in the Waihou river, had been causing trouble by interfering with the board's property, and also allowing water to get on cargo in the shed. He recommended stopping the pastime, and said the larrikin element was out of control. The board discussed the position, and the chairman pointed out that the bylaws prohibited swimming off the wharf. He greatly regretted having to interfere with recreation, but property must be protected. It was mentioned that water had been spilt on cement, hatchways taker, off, and the landing pontoon weights removed. Members expressed sympathy with those who used the wharf in a respectable manner, but decided to enforce the bv-law..
