EARLY-MORNING FIRE.
BOARDINGHOUSE GUTTED. INMATES BOUSED PROM SLEEP. FIREMAN INJURED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) MORRINSVILLE, this day. Mrs. King's Grand Vue boardinghouse was gutted by fire in the early hours of this morning. The outbreak occurred in the kitchen, apparently at a hot water tank, and the flames soon had a good hold.
The blaze was first noticed by two young men who were passing. * They first aroused the inmates, who were oblivious to their danger, and then "ave the alarm which- was sounded at 12.30 a.m. The brigade was quickly on the scene, but little could 'be done to save the contents, most of which were destroyed.
Fireman E. Grigg had the misfortune to cut his hand severely on a window, and the wound necessitated the insertion of several stitches.
The insurances are not available.
