SEAMEN REFUSE DUTY.
ACTION TAKEN AS PROTEST,

CHRISTCHURCH,'; Saturday.
When the Canadian Explorer was ready ,to sail for. Wellington last night twelve of her crew refused to take her to sea. A't the Police Court at Lyttelton to-day they were charged-with impeding the progress of the ship. The men, through their spokesman, said .they had acted ;in protest against tfie decision of'the captain to log them, following-the theft of provisions from tine refrigerating store. For this, they asserted,'they were not to'blame. .'' The accused, on.promising to take'the vessel to sea,' were convicted and ordered ti-pay 10/Jeach toward'the cost of the prosecution.
