PATRONISED 15 V BLUEJACKETS,
On previous occasions when overseas warships have been at Auckland, t.lic Y.M.C.A- has done a big work in providing for the wants of bluejackets on shore leave, and the present visit of the ; Renown is 110 exception. On Saturday afternoon the institution , was well patronised, particularly so at the conclusion of the football match at Rlandford Park. Mr. A. W. McMillan was in charge, while Miss M. Rhodes, the honorary secretary of the Ladies' Auxi- ; liary. looked after the serving of refreshments. Yesterday the Y.M.C.A. building was open all day, a large number of the men from the battleship j making use of the reading and writing: rooms. • I During the afternoon a cup of tea was. handed round bv the matron and at the close of the n:e'i'« niee*jntr a lai -r, e mini' tier were nrovided w'th tea, Mrs. ('. Wainwright. president, of the Ladies', Auxiliary, presiding. Shakedown accommodation was provided for any men who did not have to. get back to their ship. j
