MOTOR LAUNCH BURNED.

CREW SWIM ASHORE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) RAWENE, Wednesday. The launch Albatross, one of the oldest launches on the river, once owned by Mr. G. T. Clendon, and now by Mr. Dick Howard, who had leased it to Messrs. Brown and Hawkins, busb contractors, was totally destroyed by fire in the Tapawai River last night through the engine backfiring. A case of benzine exploded, enveloped the whole launch in flames, and she was burnt to the water's edge, being a total loss. Messrs. Bert. Mcllroy and Colin Macdonald, who were the crew, had a narrow escape. Finding they could not put the fire out, they dived overboard, and were almost exhausted when pickcd up by Mr. Bert Ward, who fortunately was close by in his launch.
