SWIMMING.

A schools swimming championship meeting will be held on Cheltenham Beach <>n the afternoon of March 12. and will bn open- to scholars attending public sr-hools at Devonport. Belmont. Northcote. Birkenhead and Takapuna. The meeting will he conducted by members of the Devonport f.wimming Club in conjunction with the masters of the various schools mentioned. A good day's sport is assured, and the entries, which carry no fee, will close with the headmaster of the Devonport school, Mr. F. Langiey, on Wednesday. March 0. The programme as drawn up is as follows :— SO yards bors' race, under 10 vears; 30 yards boys' race, 10 and under 11 : 30 yards girls' race, under 10 years; 30 yards girls' race. 10 and under 11: 50 yards boys' race, 11 and under 12; 50 yards boys' race, 12 and under 13 ; 75 yards bovs' open championship (two entries only accepted from each pchool; 50 yards girls' open championship (two entries only accepted from each school) ; 50 yards breaststroke, boys: 50 yards breaststroke. girls ; 50 yards boys' race, 13 and under 14; 75 yards boys' race. 14 and under 15: 50 yards rirls' race, 13 and under 14 : 50 yards irirls' race 12 and under 1: 50 yards girls' race. 14 ami under 15: 500 yards relay race, boys (five boys in team, each swim 100 yards) : tlip school winning this evrnt hold the shield presented by Mr. F. Mallabond. for one yenr: 200 yards relay race, girls (four sirls in team, each swim 50 yards) ; diving, neat header (boys), neat header (girls). Eihibltion of plain and fancy swimming by Professor Anderson.
