NATIVES' LAND GRIEVANCE.

COMMISSION IN WELLINGTON. COMING NORTH IN MARCH. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The Royal Commission which is investigating native land grievances and has already held sittings in Taranaki, met in Wellington this morning to hear legal argument on certain points from Mr. C. Taylor, of the Crown Law Department, counsel for the Crown, and Mr. D. S. Smith, counsel for the natives.

The sitting lasted for two hours and the commission then adjourned to meet again at Opotiki on March 23.

After the Opotiki meeting the inquiry will be continued at Whakatane, Tauranga, Russell and Ngaruawahia, and will conclude at Wairoa, Hawke's Bay. It ie expected that the taking of evidence will be finished about May 5 and that the report will be furnished to the Government before the end of that month. The commission has until the end of June to report, but it ie not expected that the full time allowed will be necessarv.
