(Before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M.) | DRUNKEN HORSE DRIVER. "You are charged with being drunk while in charge of a horse and vehicle iu Wellesley Street yesterday?" said the clerk to John Murdoch McKenzie (51). "Yes, that's right," answered J. M. McKenzie. The police stated that accused was found lying in the bottom of liis cart in a drunken condition. McKenzie was fined £5 and was allowed three days in which to find the money. MOTOR CAR TAKEN FROM GARAGE. Unlawfully converting a motor car, valued at £300, the property of Frank Bish, to his own use was the charge brought against John David (22), who pleaded guilty. Sergeant Calwell said that the motor car was left in an unlocked garage, and at 6.45 this morning Mr. Bish discovered that it had disappeared. Last night Constable Scandrett saw David and also the car, and came to the con- ! elusion that accused did not under- ] stand much about the vehicle. So he questioned him, David then admitting that he had taken the car. "These cases are on the increase in Auckland, and very often cars that are taken are found abandoned and damaged," added the sergeant. j Accused, who had nought to say, was i sentenced to one month's imprisonment.
