OBITUARY.

MR. J. DEANS. A respected resident of Waikino. Mr. J. £)eans, died at Thames Hospital 011 Friday night, aged 75 years. Mr. Deans resided for over 40 yeare in the Ohinemuri district. He was one of the first settlers at Waitawheta. and had lived there ever since. He had never been laid up until a week before his death. Mr. Deans was of a cheerful disposition and had made. many friends. Deceased is survived by his wife, four sons and one daughter. CAPTAIN C. F. SUNDSTRUM. j (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUNEDIX, Wednesday. I The death occurred this morning of Captain C. F. Sundstrum, aged 75 years. He had been well known in business circles and public life for many years. While at sea he traded a great deal on the New Zealand and Australian coasts in sailing ships, and afterwards in steamers. He brought the steamer Rimua out from England to New Zealand. Captain Sundstrum was one of the oldest members of the Church of Christ in Dunedin, and was one of the prime movers in the effort which resulted in I the building of a new church. He also j took a keen interest in the Y.M.C.A., | and was one of its directors. He also I served for a term as a member of the Harbour Board.
