1 wti calls to the confectionery factor** of Messrs. Browne Bros. and Geddes, in Georsre Street, were received by the Newmarket Fire Brigade early yesterday morning. The first was at four o clock, some rafters hav ing caught fire through being overheated from a nearbv chimney. This outbreak was quicklv extinguished before much damage had l*vn done. Two hours later, another outbreak occurred 3<l feet awav from the first, as a result of the roof packing ••atHiinjr lire. A portion of the roof had to be torn away before the fire could be extinguished. • v li£ht damage was caused to an apartment house at IPitt Street, which caught lire shortly before nine o'clock la«t I lie ( ity Brigade, however, soon had the outbreak in hand, and only a few lining hoards of one wall were burnt. The damage was small.
