DESTROYED BY FIRE.

FARMERS' TRADING CO. STORE

AT ONGARTTE.

NO WATER AVAILABLE.

(By Telegraph.—Press association.) TAUMARUXUT, this day

Last night at 11 o'clock a store and its contents at Ongarue, belonging to the Farmers' Trading Company, and worth £8000, were entirely consumed by fire. There was neither a water supplV nor a fire brigade. The adjoining boardinghouse of Mr. Sims was saved with great difficulty by the use of wet blankets. The origin of the fire is a mrsterv. Possibly it was due to rats chewing matches.
