WOOL BROKERS' REPORT.

I The Auckland Wool Brokers' Associa- | tiou have to report on the second Auck- • land -wool sale of the season as follows:— I At the first sale of the 1926-27 season held in Auckland on 26th and 27th November, 18.155 bales of wool were offered and 93 per cent of the offering sold. This satisfactory clearance has been experienced at all the Southern sales, with a regularly reported hardening, especially for finer grade wools. It was, therefore, with the utmost confidence that woolgrowers and brokers ' looked forward to the local sale fixed for February 21 and 22. The Wool Committee, Wellington, fixed 20,000 bales as the limit that should be , offered by the Auckland brokers at this I sale. As this allotment was filled by the ! 7th January, it means a considerable carry-over to the sale to be held on 17th March. The question of limitation of catalogues has been very fully ventilated in the Press and the Auckland brokers, while appreciating the advantages to tue trade geenrally to have sales reasonably regulated and I limited, felt they had a real grievance ! because other centres more favourably situated with regard to sales had their limits increased from the previous year, while the Wool Committee refused to j allot Auckland any increase. [ The wool on offer opened up in exceli lent condition, a large percentage being • early shorn wool, which missed the first sale and was consequently very light iu the grease. As is usual at the second sale of the season, there was a considerable percentage of earthy, bush-stained and j seedy wools, but, taking the catalogue {right through, the offering was the best yielding clip ever offered at a February I Auckland sale. The number of bales offered by the j various brokers and the order of sale was i as follows:— X.Z. Loan and Mercantile .Agency Co., Ltd.. 4347 bales; Dalgety and Company, Limited, in conjunction with the (North Auckland Farmers' Co-op., Ltd., '5932 bales; Abraham and Williams, Ltd., 13463 bales; Alfred Buckland and Sons, I Ltd., 1957 bales; The Farmers' Co-op. Auctioneering Co., Ltd., 4578 bales. The demand wis exceptionally keen from all secj tions, Bradford, as usual, taking the largest I amount, while Continental buyers were jwell to the fore and a considerable per•centage of the offering went to Germany, i ranee and America. j Compared with the November sale. medium crossbred was Id higher, fine i crossbred 2d higher, halfbred about the same. Lambs' wool 2Hd higher, bellies and pieces Id to l*&d higher. The appreciation on fine wools and lambs reported from the South was fully main-1 tamed at the Auckland sale, but there is; very little fine wool grown in the Auckland Province. The local growers will, therefore, benefit by the improvement in' the lambs' wool and pieces. j The steady demand right throughout the wool-selling season is very encouraging' and it certainly looks as if prices are going to be stabilised at present-day rates, which, of course, is much more satisfactory to growers and everyone in the trade, than violent fluctuation!. «
