NEW PETROL PUMP.
EXACT MEASURE ASSURED. LONDON, February 20. A new petrol pump, designed by an, Australian, Mr. Frank Hammond, was installed in the Royal garages at Windsor, Sandringham, and Marlborough House. It now transpires that Dame Nellie Melba interested herself in Hammond's invention and introduced him to Prof. Low. who pushed his interests and se- i cured patents on behalf of Hammond. The virtue of the invention is unfailing accuracy, beiug correct to within eight i drops. Tests of ordinary pumps revealed \ inaccuracies varying from a quart short to a quart over, and a Board of Trade [ investigation revealed that Hammond's pump retained its accuracy without ad* justment.
