The completion of the fifth series of matches in the senior competition on Saturday was characterised chiefly by i our .point wins by Parnell and Eden, -jjd by a fine batting display by C. season against Y.M.C.A. Shore A made 222 in reply to Grafton's 147, Dacre contributing 109. I Though atill without Allcott, Grafton made 147 for seven in their second innings, Shore winning on the first innings. Ponsonby made on 138 in reply to University's 243, and in the follow-on played out the allotted time for 203, leaving the students the win on the first innings. The Parnell-Y.M.CA. game was remarkable for a last wicket stand by Turbott and Aitken for Parnell in the first innings. YJtf.CA. had made 160. and Parnell had nine wickets down for 77, and seemed in a hopeless position when the last two men put on 95 runs, feaving their side 10 runs in the lead. Y.M.CA., without Bowley, collapsed in the second innings for 96, and Parnell. with 87 runs to make In 50 minutes, did the necessary to get the four-point win. At Devonport, the Shore B team was dismissed by Eden for 122 runs, 99 belind Eden's total. Eden then put on 112 for two and declared, and got rid of the home side the second time for 146, to win outright by 65 runs.
