RIFLE SHOOTING.

AKARANA DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB. Competitions wore held nt Penrose ransf on Saturday. 10th inst.. for trophies donated bv Mr. <;. D. Moon, in A section ; Mr. J. It. DraCin. in B: and Mr. K. Tilslcv. in C. Ten shots were tired, each at Soo and 000 yards. IMHeniun \V. Coli|Uhoun was successful in A section with the good score —especially considering the variable wind thai was blowing—of «0. T. The final shoot of the third trophy series was fired at Penrose this afternoon. The trophies competed for were presented by Mr. J. Stanton in A grade and Mr. G. S. Kent in B grade. Fine weather prevailed throughout the afternoon, but the wind was inclined to be a little puffy for shooting at SOU and 900 yards, and some of the scores were affected. Top score in A grade was made bv Rifleman C. J. M. Clark with SO, while ill B grade an interesting competition resulted in a tie between Riflemen E. E. Watson. 1.. Verrall and I. .1. Spry. The best score at 900 yds was secured by L. Verrall, and he secured a win. Silver spoons were won by Rifleman C. J. M. Clark and Rifleman L. Verrall. Details are :— A Grade.—C. J. M.
