That is to say thai all the work done on the pilot and th< emergency train as well as three carriages on the RoyaL was accomplished by workmen under the supervision of the local workshops manage! (Mr. Sampson. The train which arrived yesterday morning at 11.30 a.m. from Wellington, consisted of ci<Mit vehicles, included in which were the Royal saloon car. and the Royal dining car. These two cars were made at Petone workshops. The bedroom is a particularly handsome apartment, and the lounge is extremely comfortable. At each end of the bedroom are mirrored wardrobes and dressing tables in keeping with the mahogany panelled walls. At the end of the Royal apartment is a bathroom, finished in white enamelled steel tiles. This car also contains the l>edrooms of the Earl and Countess of Cavan. Next to the saloon car is the Royal dining-car. which is one of the Main Trunk type converted for temporary use, with accommodation provided at three tables for 1". people. The Royal kitchen is contained in a separate "car with all the conveniences of a firstclass hotel. Heating is provided by gas, there being a large oven and mimeious gas rings. There is also a dining car for the use of the staff and railway officials travelling on the Roval train. A dining car is also attached" to the emergency train. Officials on Trains. The following officials of the New Zealand Railway Department will travel on the Royal train:—Mr. F. J. Jones, chairman of the railway board: Mr. E. Casey, divisional superintendent for the North Island; Mr. F. C. Widdop, chief engineer; Mr. G. S. Lynde. chief mechanical engineer: Mr. J. F. Macklev. locomotive engineer for the North Island. Messrs. J. G. Riekerby. H. A. Penn. P. H. Hartland and J. Cameron, district traffic managers for Auckland. Ohakune. Wanganui and Wellington districts, respectively, will travel on the Royal train through their respective sections. In addition. Mr. A. Whisker, of the locomotive department, and Mr. D. A. Moore, car and waggon inspector, together with the electric lines inspector in each district, a telegraphist, a spare guard and a spare engine driver, will be on the train. The refreshment branch will be under the control of Mr. F. Lindsay, assisted by Mr. Fanslow. The following officials will travel on the pilot train, which will run fifteen minutes ahead of the Royal:—Mr. J. K. Lowe, district engineer "at Auckland; Mr. W. R. Bagge. district engineer at Ohakune; Mr. H. W. Beasley, district engineer at Wanganui: Mr. C. T. Jeffreys, district engineer at Wellington: Mr. J. Binstead, assistant locomotive engineer for the North Island: and an extra guard, inspector of permanent way. electric linesman and foreman of works in each di-trict which the train will pass through.
