— « WAITEMATA BOATING CLUB. MR. E. J. ELLERBECKS TROPHIES. On Saturday the members of the Waitemata Boating Club engaged in a set of trial fours for trophies presented by Mr. E. J. Ellerbeck, vice-president. Splendid water conditions prevailed over the course from the King's wharf to the new reclamation. Mr. E. J. Ellerbeck acted as Judge, and the starting was by mutual consent. The first heat crews were : C. Fearon, T. luipey, F. Simmonds. C. Butterworth, Organ (cox) : V. Smith. C. Cairns, L. Barker. Beasley. Stacey (cox) ; Keegan, L. Brooker, I'. Piatt, H. I.nwrence, Crawford (cox). Keegan"s crew gut the best of the start and quickly gained a slight lead. with Fearon second. The position was maintained until reaching the new reclamation, wlieu a splendid tinisli resulted in Keegan winning by a length from Fearon. with Smith about a length away third. The second heat crews were: N. Dotibleday, C. Hunt. li. Barber, R. Wlieatcroft, Crawford (cox) ; C. Mackay. J. Cotteral. U. Kenrick. Jones, Stacey <cox): 11. Cllllen. J. Johnson, W. Shore. Beaslev, Organ (cox). There was little between the crews until eli-aring the old reclamation. Cullen's crew then went ahead to win by two lengths from Mackay. The erews of Keegan and Cullen met in the final. This was a good go until reaching tiie gap. then Keegnn forged ahead.
