FIRE AT DRURY.
HOUSE COMPLETELY DESTROYED. A six-roomed house in Great South Road, Drury, was completely destroyed by fire between midnight and one o'clock this morning. The owner of the' house is Mr. Geo. Waghorn, who was also the sole occupant, he having taken possession the previous day, his wife and family remaining in Patumahoe. Mr. Waghorn was awakened by the sound of the hot water service boiling furiously in a room adjoining the one he occupied. A large portion of the house was then in flames and his efforts to check the blaze were of no avail. Several neighbours rendered assistance, but the building, which was an old one, was quickly enveloped. The furniture and numerous cases packed with other belongings and deposited in the hall, were completely destroyed. The building was insured for £1000 in the British Trades Insurances Co., and the furniture was also covered.
