RECORD HOLIDAY TRAFFIC.
RAILWAYS BACK TO NORMAL. After an exceptionally husv period, railway traffic from Auckland , returned to normal dimensions, and tlierd were 40 vacant seats in the Davlight Limited when that train left for tlid South this morning. "It has been the busiest Christmas inf my recollection." said a railway official to-day. "I have been working here foi; a good many years, but I have never; known a holiday season like it. It waW not only the main line traffic, but th« suburban and local business as well,' Matters ha \e quietened down now, how— e\er, and the outgoing traffic is down tan normal. Trains coming in are still well! filled. Some of the passengers are holi-day-makers bound for the North, but th«* great majority are travellers returning; from their Christmas and New Yearvacations in the South. 1
