WAKEFIELD BEATEN. VISITORS' BRILLIANT PLAY. (Received 12.30 p.m). LONDON, December 28. The New Zealand League footballers defeated Wakefield by 29 points (seven tries, four converted) to 24 points (four tries, three converted, and three penaltygoals). There were 7000 spectators, who were rewarded by seeing the New Zealanders give the best display of attacking seen in Wakefield for a long time. As a whole, the visitors gave a delightful exhibition. The New Zealanders started sensationally, running strongly and passing magnificently. Their play for a time promised to gain them a sweeping victory and they speedily rattled up a big lead. In the first half, Gardiner, Kirwan and Brown scored tries. Dufty converting two. For Wakefield, Davies scored and Pollard goaled from a penalty. In the second half the home side rallied, Davies.
