LOCAL BODIES.

MOUNT ROSKILL ROAD BOARD. The adjuuii'.ed meeting of the Mount Eoskill Hoard Boaiil was held last night, when there were present: Messrs. B. Scarborough (chairman), L. A. To«er, A. S. Belcher, T. 8. Lamont, ami W. \V. lLerr. Chairman's Telephone.—Mr. J. .). Preston, late chairman of the board, asked to have the telephone, which was installed in his house as tiiairmau, transferred to him permanently lor his private use. The request was granted. Sir. Preston further fissured the board tliut he had received the hearty co-operation and support of the board's staff during his term of office. Building Permits. — The inspector reported that fifteen permits for new buildings had been issued during the past week of a total value of £8432. There were 36 buildings now in. the course of erection in the district. Water Supply.—Mr. L. Knight informed the board that the Wesleyan Training College Board were agreeable to the reticulation of the estate, and offered to be responsible for the interest on the loan required for installing a water supply. The letter was referred to a committee. Motor Traffic.—Messrs. Tozer and Belcher reported that the Local Bodies' Association, of which they were members, advised that all local bodies should adopt the present by-law of the Auckland City Council, whereby all motorists at intersections, adopt the right-hand rule. It was agreed to incorporate this suggestion in the Board's by-laws now in the course of preparation. The board also adopted a recommendation of the association: That a committee be set up, representative of Xo. 1 omnibus district, to control traffic without ownership, to be followed, if found workable, by a committee having legal standing to control traffic under the Motor Omnibus Act. Subdivisions. —Several plans of subdivisions of properties were submitted to the board and approved.

GLEN EDEN TOWN BOARD.

The fortnightly meeting of the Glen Eden Town Board was held on Monday, thosii present being: Messrs. \V. E. Martin (presiding), Ambler, Koutley. Hosier, and Hayes. The chairman (Mr. W. H. Shepherd) was granted leave of absence until February 1, \\\2~!. Standing Orders. —It was decided that these be referred to the Board's solicitor for report before further steps are taken to embody them in the by-laws. Public Health.—The public health >..r reunited that all was satisfactory in the district. Dor Licenses. —A final warning was issued to one individual who steadily omits to pay his do? license that legal proceedi&gs will follow if the license fee is not paid forthwith. Recreation Ground. —The proposed scale of fees for the use of the ground during the coming football season wan left in abeyance for the time being. The person submitting the highest tender for the sale of refreshments on the ground having failed to comply with the conditions the "rights of sale were given to the second highest tenderer. Motor Buses.—The member for the district (Mr. 11. G. R. Mason, M.P.) wrote asking for particulars as to how the district had been affected by any alteration nf fares and time-table in connection with the motor omnibus service. The clerk was instructed to reply that the district had been adversely affected, and to supply all possible information. Dobson Mine Disaster.—The clerk was Instructed to display the collecting sheets in connection with this relief fund, so that all persons interested might have the opportunity of contributing. Cowan's Subdivision. —The clerk was instructed to inform the surveyors in connection herewith that the amended plan would be approved of, eubjeet to the terms of the Board's solicitor's letter. Sokollch's Subdivision.—This proposed subdivision was referred back as not being in conformity with the Board's by-laws. West Coast Road.—A resolution was passed directing the clerk to write the Board's solicitors inquiring as to the advisability of taking another traffic tally, and the possible requirements therewith, in connection with the proposal to concrete this roaa.

', Boiling Down House.—An application for a permit for the erection of a boiling down house in the centre of the township was received. The clerk was instructed to j advise the applicant to first get the peri mission of the Tublic Health Department, t consideration of the issue of the permit ; being held over in the meantime. Next Meeting.—lt was decided that the next meeting of the Board be held ou . January IT, 1927.
