t COUXCIL CKITICISED. An address on matters concerning the • administration of the Xorthcote Borough I Council was given in the Masonic Hall JJbrthcote, last evening by Mr. John: Fred. Jackson, ex-councillor. Mr J x Hanna presided. Mr. Jackson said that in resijmhiw his seat as a member of the council, he-' had directly challenged tne Mayor to obtain the verdict of the ratepayers on matters for which he was eonieudimr,/ The Mayor and council had evaded thY issue, however, by deciding that no bvelectiou would be ordered to fill the : vacancy. His seat would remain unfilled till the end of April next, when he would ajrain offer his services. Water charges, sewerage complaint?, gas reflations, and other matters were dealt •with. The speaker contended that the town clerk should have engineering qualifications. ° Several questions were answered, and Mr. Jackson was thanked for his address. . .
