SHOP-LIFTING.
WOMAN LENIENTLY DEALT WITH. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star."') WELLINGTON, this day. "This is a pure case of kleptomania," said Mr-Egley at the Magistrate's Court to-day, when* Mary Tring, a domestic, i 36 years of age. admitted stealing two pairs of. silk stockings from C. Smith, Ltd., and a. pair of sandals from the Economic Shoe Store. Counsel said accused had no need to steal. The articles taken were of no use to her. Her husband never left her short of money. Chief Detective Ward said that early this year accused was admitted to probation on three charges of theft. The Bench of justices took a lenient view of the case, convicting accused and ordering her to come up if called upon during her present prohjitionery license.
