SOCIALISM IN PRACTICE.
JOURNALISTS' STRIKE. ALLEGED VICTIMISATION. (Received 12.30 p.m). LOXDOX, December 20. The editorial staff of the "Glasgow Evening Standard." a Socialist paper, owned by Mr. John "Wheatley, HM.P. (Labour, Shettleston) struck, alleging victimisation and a breach of trades union principles. The editor asserts that reporters entitled to 70/, received only from 30/11 to 37/0 weekly. When thoy secured an increase to 80 per cent of the union rates one of the most highly paid men waa dismissed and a buy brought in his place. The firm denies the allegations. Journalists are not supporting the strike.
