ANNIVERSARY REGATTA COMMITTEE.

PROGRAMME FOR JANUARY 29

A meeting of the Auckland Anniversary Regatta Committee was held in the Xavy League rooms last evening, the chairman of committee, Mr. \V. I*. Endean, presiding. The programme for Regatta Day was considered and decided on. The prize money was discussed, but it was agreed to leave the allocation of all prizes until the next meeting of committee, to be on January 10, 1927. • The programme is as follows: Lipton Cup, for the Jellicoe class, and handicap race; Class A, first class yachts; Class B, second class yachts; Class C, third class yachts; Class E, fourth class yachts; six-metre class; Class H, 24 and 20-footers; Class L, 22-footcrs; Class X, 20-footers; Class M, 18ft restricted patikis; Class V, 18ft square bilge; Class 8, IG-footers; Star class; Class X (Jellicoe class), Captain Ross' Cup, and handicap race; Class T, 14-footprs; Class V, 14ft square bilge; Class Z, Takapuna Club's 12ft (iin boats; sea scouts' cutter race, warships' whalers race, Mercantile Marine cuttcrs's race; visitors' launch race; launc es under S knots; bona-lide cruising launches, 8 to 10 knots; bonafide cruisers, over 10 knots; speed boats, 10 to 25 knots; speed boats, open, over Hi knots; Auckland Regatta speed championship for boats exceeding 25 knots, also handicap race; outboard motors, Auckland championship, piston displacement of engine limited to 20 cubic inches; outboard motors, bona-fide clinker-built boats, to be passed as suitable for rowing boats, piston capacity as championship event. The sutnary and side-show programme will be drawn up later, after consultation with the Auckland Swimming Centre offi' s, Messrs. \V. A. Wilkins- .-i and Geo. Mobberley being appointed to meet the swimming council. Considerable discussion took place over a proposal to run the speed championship in three heats of four miles, and it was deferred until the next meeting. lt was decided to extend season's greetings nnd best wishes for a successful regatta to the icers of the Tauranga. Russell, Whangarei, Cowcs Bay, and Mahurangi r.gattas. As considerable difficulty was experienced last regatta day iii picking out the five starting flags in several events, it was decided to r 2 five round shapes instead of the flags. The recall numbers will be a special number in each race, scratch boat to be Xo. 1. A tender for the programme rights at £53 was accepted. The chairman extended his best wishes to members, and hoped they would have fair winds and a pleasai't time on their holiday cruises. On behalf of The members, _~r. Wilkinson thanked Mr. Endean for his good wishes, and hoped the fair winds would extend to the Prize and her crew.
