RIFLE SHOOTING.
AKARANA CLUB. Members of the above club commenced competitions on Saturday at GOU and 700 varus lor trophies presented by Messrs. J. Forrest, J. F, Atkinson, and E. J. C. Restoa. Fine weather prevailed, but conditions of light and wind puzzled many competitors. The three top men in each section take points towards the trophies, 3. 2, and 1. The shoot-off f-r the trophy presented by Mr. G. G. Ashley in B section was won by Rifleman Stan. Elliott, who scored l'J p<iints to his father's 10. Hemming, 32, 17— l'J. CITY AND SUBURBS CLUB. Members of the City and Suburbs Rifle Club lired the linal shoot of the trophy series for trophies presented by Mr. J. B. Johnston in tiie A grade and Mr. J. Alexander in the B grade at Penrose on Saturday. The light failed very quickly at 700 yards, making sighting very difficult. The best scores were registered by Rifleman A. J. Pieterson. A grade, and Rifle'nian G. E. Watt, B grace, each of whom scored S6. Silver spoons were won by Rifleman H. J. Verrall, A grade, and RiUman R. H. Matthews, B grade. Following are the scores :— A Grade.—A. J. Pieterson, 47 at 600 yds, 39 at 700ys. total SO; H.J. Verrall, 44. 41 —S3 ;R. C.
