GO-SLOW TACTICS.
FREEZING WORKS TROUBLE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, Friday. The unionist butchers at the Whakatu freezing works, in spite of definite warnings from the employers, persisted in goslow tactics, and as a result were paidoff to-day. The employers will now choose their own men on their own conditions, and if unable to satisfy their requirements from among the unions will take on free labour. The Whakatu butchers causing the trouble are apparently acting undependently of the union and no difficulty is being experienced at other works. WORK AGAIN RESUMED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HASTINGS, this day. After considerable negotiation the Whakatu butchers- resumed work this morning. .The company refused to dispense with free labour butchers, but if any should leave, and a satisfactory unionist is available, he will be taken on. It was made clear that if there were any more stop-work meetings, go-slow, or pin-pricking or any sort, the men would be paid off and work for the season proceed with other labour, plenty I being available.
