For the Little Ones.

LITTLE VERSES FOR YOU TO LEARN. My Dear Little Friends, — Last week I wa» very much afraid that the big competition would squeeia your little letter right off the page, bat the kind man who looks after this paper ha* given us more room now, and so we will keep this little corner juit to ourselves. Each week I will write you a little letter here, and underneath yon will find some " nice poetry or little picture or something which is juit for your own selves to learn or to look at. Smile* are such nice things, and so catching that I thought I would main the first piece of poetry about them. The words are very true, and I would like everyone of you to learn them off by heart, and some day you may be able to bring a smile to the face of some poor little boy or girl who is unhappy by repeating those words to them. Perhaps some of you may have learnt some pretty little verses, and if so you may write them out, and if they are very srfsod I will print them here for you all to read. Don't forget to learn the poetry> will you? SMILES. The thing which goee the farthest. Toward making life worth while, That costs the least and does the moet. Is Just a pleasant smile. The smile that bubbles from tie heart, That loves Its fellow men, Will drive away the clond of gloom. And coax the sun again. It's full of worth and goodness, too, With manly kindness blent. It's worth a million dollars, and It doesn't cost a cent.
