» MANUBEWA. The Manurewa Bowling Club is at present experiencing an era of steady progress. At a recent committee meeting eleven applications for membership were granted. On practically every tine afteruoon the greens are occupied by enthusiastic players practising in view of the percentage pairs, percentage fours, colts singles, and champion singles competitions. Numerous trophies have been generously donated for these competitions. PAERATA. A pleasant entertainment, held in the Public Hall, under the direction of the Tennis Club, took the form of a " five hundred" and euchre tournament. The " five hundred" was won by Mr. Fraser and Mrs. Pctter, while the euchre prizes went to Mr. Beaumont and Mrs. Young. MATAMATA. Mr. l-\ H. Hosking. who had been an inmate of a private hospital In Auckland for the past eight months, has returned to Matamata. Well over a year ago Mr. Hosking was wounded In the leg In a shooting accident nt Mokai. The injured member did not heal properly, and necessitated further treatment.
