WHEAT PRICES.
PROSPECTS IN SOUTH. LESS THAN 6/ PER BUSHEL. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. A few weeks ago some sales of next season's wheat were made at 6/ per bushel on trucks at country stations. At that time Australian flour to be made from new season's wheat was being offered to New Zealand at £12 10/ per ton f.o.b. at port of shipment. Since then, however, the price of Australian _our has come down to £12, and now New Zealand growers would probably find it difficult to obtain 6/ for wheat. Australia is assured of a very big harvest. Probably most millers have purchr'sed a certain quantity at this price to enable them to carry on for the first few weeks of the new season, but in view of lower quotations from Australia they are not prepared to go on paying 6/.
