THE LONG AND THE SHORT. THEFT OF FUR COAT. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. Charged With the theft of a grey squirrel fur coat valued at £25, the property of Rachael Ryan, a man named Roy Chattergi, described as a lawyer, pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate's Court. The evidence showed that the coat was taken from behind a dining room door, and then pawned. Accused made an elaborate defence, causing Mr. Riddell, S.M., to say: "You have made a very long statement, but I will be very short. You will be sentenced to three months' imprisonment.'"
