Two calls were received by the City Fire Brigade yesterday afternoon, and one early this morning. All were minor r outbreaks. The first was to the premises . of Guthrie, Bowron and Co., Ltd., paint ! merchants, in Albert Street. A quantity ! of linseed oil was being boiled on tlie top floor, but how a fire came to be l caused is not known. The brigade was able to suppress the outbreak quickly, the roof being slightly damaged. Tie i second outbreak occurred in an unoccupied house in Cook Street. The damage i' was confined to a slight charring of the | f weather-boards on one side. The building was an old one, and it is understood that it was shortly to be demolished. At a quarter to six this morning the brigade was summoned to the Piccadilly Tea Rooms in the Strand Arcade, where' 1 an electric iron had been left switched ' on.
