"IT CERTAINLY APPEALS."
MAYOR'S FIRST IMPRESSIONS. "FINE, BOLD, COMPREHENSIVE SCHEME." "While it is too early to give a considered opinion, as I did not see the report of the commissioners till eight o"eloek last night, I can say that the scheme appears at first sight to be a fine, bold, comprehensive one/ said tht Mayor (Mr. George Baildon) when interviewed by a ''Star' , representative early this morning. "'Of course, I have not gone <jnto the details at all carefully, and really know little more than the public about what is proposed, but after reading the report it does appeal to one. "The council will have to consider the whole thing very carefully," continued Mr. Baildon. '"The financial aspect will have to be gone into with the utmost thoroughness. All details will have to be taken into consideration, especially those with regard to the acquisition of property. The issues are too big to be hastily decided upon, and care is necessary, since a lot will depend on the way in which effect is given to the scheme. The council will have to examine the whole thing very thoroughly before it can say 'Yes' or 'Xo.' And more than that 1 can't say at the moment, not having had time for critical examination of the scheme."
