THE CIVIC CENTRE.
COMMISSIONERS' REPORT TO COUHCXL. PRESENTED TO-XIGHT. Recommendations as to the establishment of a civic centre in Auckland will be placed before a select committee of the City Council to-night. The civic commission has completed its report aiid has prepared plans setting out its recommendations. Duri»g the sitting of the three commissioners, Sir John Sulnian, Mr. S. Hurst Seager, and Mr. W. E. Bush, 35 witnesses were heard and over 30 different schemes dealing either witli various sites at which it was suggested a civic centre should be established, or with the utilisation of the old civic square, were put forward. The select committee which meets tonight was constituted at the beginning of"the year for the purpose of considering the civic centre problem. Through ■ this committee the commission was 9et i up. Besides the members of the eommitt tee it is likely that all members of the City Council "will be present when the report is tabled to-night.
