! I A meeting of those Interested in the tor- !, ward movement of the <Jlen Eden brancn I of the y.M.C.A. was held last night in the I 1 Methodist Church, Mr. J. M. Tregaskis I occupying the cbair. After briefly introI dueiug Mr. V. T. 'Drew, general sivit'tary Ij of the Auckland Y/M.C.A., the chairman i' called on Mr. D. B. Gnlldford (hon. secre- !• tary) for his report. The report dealt witn 1! the history of the Association from its InI ception, the handicaps met with on account I of difficulty in finding housing aecommodai' tion, for the branch, and in the loss ot ■ many leaders who bad removed to other 1 districts. The secretary mentioned that a I queen carnival had been run with the object !of erecting a hall —a section of ground j having been previously purchased. OK the I £114 at present in hand, £70 was due to I debenture holders, who had made possible i the purchase of the land. !! !Mr. Drew said that the Central V.M.C.A. [ in Auckland were definitely interested in ! the Glen Eden branch, and were only wait- ! ing for a more by them to show their I interest in a practical manner. I 1 It was decided that those present form ! themselves into a committee and adjourn to ! consider bnilding plans, a meeting to be I called for Wednesday, November 3rd, when ! the whole scheme would be laid before j them.
