RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
BRIDGE INSPECTOR INJURED
JIGGER HIT BY A TRAIN.

WHANGAREI, this day.
Yesterday evening Arthur Hatley, bridge inspector of the New Zealand Railways, when travelling on a jigger unexpectedly met a mixed train from Whangarei near Kauri. Mr. Hatley jumped off the jigger, but the engine hit the jigger, which was thrown on top of Mr Hatley, striking him on the left side. When he was removed to the hospital it was discovered that his left kidney was lacerated, and he was suffering from shock.
