KING'S EMPIRE VETERANS.
THE QUARTERLY MEETING.
The quarterly meeting of the veterans was held yesterday afternoon at the Soldiers' Club in Customs Street. Captain Archer, R.N., 0.C., was In the chair, and 17 members were present. A discussion on the pensions of---the South African veterans, which were increased in the last session of Parliament, took place.* It was announced that three" of the veterans of the association had died since <the last quarterly -meeting. One new member was elected. The annual picnic was arranged for December 18, round the harbour, and was left in the hands;., of the executive. It was decided to w make"'arrangements,, for a parade of • association members on'- tho' occasion of the vlsi't to Auckland of the Duke and Duchess of York.
