On Saturday Papakura Cricket Club hel'i its official opening for the season. There was a large attendance of players, including many promising new members. A scratch match was played during the afternoon. There was approaching 30 odd players present, and as the club has only decided to enter one team in the second grade of the City Association very keen competition is anticipated, and there is every indication of a strong team being entered. HAMILTON. Saturday was given over to practice and on the various grounds young players were being broken in. On Claudelands Showgrounds the new Rugby Cricket Club played a match between teams captained by S. Clarkin and W. Christie. The latter's team won with 111 (Patterson 34. M. Johnson 31) to 107 (R. Going 34, Clarkin 14, H. George 10). WAIHI. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI. this day. The first cricket match of the season in Waihi was played on Saturday afternoon between Roskilly's eleven (Whitworth. Armstrong and Co.'s Aongatete staff) and j the Martha Club (Waihi). The visitor* won by seven wickets and 30 runs. Martha's first innings realised 54, Holman (11) being the only batsman to reach double figures. Bowling: Morris, four for 26 : Young, five for 20. The visitors then knocked np 84 for the loss of three wickets, when they declared. | Roskilly made 21. Erson. not out. 2R. and j Sander's, not out, IS. Bowling: Leidbetter j one for 10. ! Cup matches under the auspices of the [ Waihi Cricket Association will open on Saturday next.
