I COMPETITIONS FESTIVAL. • The competitions were continued at ! the Town Hall and Unity Hall to-day. j The Town Hall classes included the ! champion open piano solo, the iadies" j and gentlemen's operatic solo (from prrand opera), and the Shakespcrean j recital of Lady Percy's speech from I "King Henry IV." For the piano chain - I pionship the selections were: "Ballade iin A Flat" (Chopin), and "Rhapsodic in I B Minor" (Brahms). | At the Unity Hall the elocutiouary i classes were continued. There were 53 j entrants in the action recitation (under I 13), and the other classes were: Test I recitation for girls under IG, and the j children's character recital. The oratorio solo at the Town Hall attracted a score of competitors this afternoon, and was followed by section B of the champion piano solo. To-night is the "Big Choir Night" of the Competitions Festival, and it is I stated that this contest will be the i largest of its kind that has been staged |in Auckland. The trophy is a challenge shield and £25, as well as a special money prize for the conductor. | Selections for this contest are: "The Radiant Morn Hath Passed Away" I (anthem), and "From Oberon in Fairyj land" (Stevens), a part-song, unaccomI panied. Four Auckland choirs have I entered. The competitors in the eliminating tests will also be seen to-night.
