Considerable excitement was caused in Cameron Streel on Saturday evening br a m an who put up a fierce struggle a'zainst arrest, and only after a hard tussle did two members of the local police succeed in getting him to the lock-up. . I Xhe incident was witnessed by a large crowd, one lady haranguing them for their ineptitude in not assisting the police. Her oner to constable: "Can I do anvthingv" met with the response, | "Yes, get a" taxi!'' This she promptly did, 'and into it the aggressor was bundled. The sequel occurred at the court tins ] morning, when John Walker, a middleaD d. e . stockily-built man, appeared on three charges of being drunk, of violent behaviour, and of resisting the police, and also on another of obscene language. It was stated that the accused had a j bad record, bit previous convictions in- | eluding one of resisting the police. _ j For drunkennes accused was convicted | and ordered to taku out a prohibition | order. For violent behaviour and resist- j ing the police he received one month's j hard labour, and for obscene language another month's bard labour, sentences to be cumulative. ' ■
