WHY THE NEW CEMENT PROPOSITION OFFERS SUCH EXCEPTIONAL ADVANTAGES. An analysis made by the Dominion Analyst and others of the limestone from the Whangarei properties of the British Standard Portland Cement, Ltd., proves that, as regards quality, this new company's raw material is practically perfect for cement-making purposes. The expert referred to gives 77.73 per cent carbonate of lime in his analysis. It thus almost complies exactly with the formula laid down by such cement experts as E. C. Eckel, a leading American authority whose "Portland Cement Industry" states that "a Portland cement mixture ground and ready for burning will consist of about 75 per cent of lime carbonate, and 20 per cent silica, alumina and iron oxide together, the remaining a per cent including any magnesium carbonate, sulphur and alkalies that may be present." The joint reports of Messrs. J. S. and W. J. Wilson, who helped to pioneer the cement industry in New Zealand, and Professor F P. Worley, D.Sc., M.A., Professor of Chemistry, Auckland, gave similar figures, which prove that its composition is practically ideal for the manufacture of the highest quality cement. Mr. Stanley Jones, C.E., estimates the contents of the company's limestone properties at 15,000,000 tons, or sufficient for an output of over 70,000 tons of Portland cement a year for 50 years. With over 1,000,000 estimated tons of suitable coal available in the company's own mine; a wonderful harbour and safe anchorage, workable in all weathers; the great advantage of quarry elevation, allowing for transport of raw material to mill by gravitation alone; and a definitely established and growing market able to absorb, even for roads only, the whole of the company's output, the success of the project is assured. Investors have an opportunity seldom met with, and a careful perusal of the prospectus will prove the proposition to be a safe and profitable investment. The fact that the promoters have put up £80,000 in cash out of £213,000 required, and are guaranteeing 4 per cent interest on the remaining 133,000 shares now on offer to the public, is clear proof of their enthusiastic confidence in the project. The prospectus may be had from any member of- the Stock Exchange, from the National Bank of Kew Zealand, Ltd., from the interim secretary, P.O. Box 542. Wellington, or from the local appointed brokers, Geo. Creagh, L. T. Syrces, H. K. Forde, Auckland.— (Ad.) . 1
