Waiotahi-Cambria reef has been advanced ' Oft for the week, making the total distance • frnra the crosscut 226 ft. The reef is a > ! strong hodv of ore carrying good mineral ' indications'for cold. A heavily mineralised ' I flinty seam is Iving on the hanging-wall (ii ■ : the 'reef, which* is a favourable indication E i for gold. At the point where the strong blotches of gold were obtained opening out I for rising is under way. The hangingwall ' I portion continues to carry silver sulphide 1 and bright mineral, but no cold has been l seen for tbe week. The drive from the bottom of the winze on the footwall of the 1 main reef has been advanced Cft seaward 3 for the week. The reef is a strong body 1 of ore, carrvine the usual heavy mineral bands the country being a mild andesite 3 interlaced with fine grained seams of iron 3 i pyrites. c ; 'Alburnia.—Driving hillward on the hangingwall portion of the Orlando reef has 1 been continued with one shift, the distance S driven for the week being 6ft, with the p same favourable indications as previously reported. Two shiits have beer, engaged "' the rise now being up to a height - of 12ft over the level. The reef is a vice - defined body of ore about 18 iDches in j width, with all the characteristics to make I richer values at any time. In the stone '■ broken a few blotches of gold were seen, f The winze is now sunk to a depth of bit. 1 and it was from the reef in this winze that the stone was procured which was r reported on the 13th inst. As sinking a advances the reef appears to be making s in width, it imw being 2ft wide in thi bottom of the winze. It also appears that ' the values are improving as we go down. 1' as the l."'-r s' • was obtained at the s bottom We will be breaking the reef down again rirst thing «n Monday n-vt. \l...in:itaiari.— Th- man.-.g-r repor-s that c ' the east crosscut was advanced loft, total c (inff. ,\ p„g seam was passed through, mixed with gritty quartz about four inches '. wide. The couniry in the footwall nf this • ; seam is of a splendid description and w-il ? mineralised. A couple n£ quartz strinc-rs p dropping from the seam carry c.>pp-r l pyrites and silica: According to indicati'ous the reef should be near at hand. A n rise is being taken up on No. 9 reef on the 1 I junction of'a cross leader. The rise is up 5 j 30ft. The re-f is composed of ribs of quartz and country rock. Some, of the quartz '' carries peacock copper. G Baliarat.—The mine manager reports - i that driving on the Baliarat reef in the ' ]<iw level ha« been continued. The rtistanc- ; driven for the week is 8 feet. Both the reef and the conntrv rock have improved. I The rubble in the reef shows a little more : free gold hv dish tests, and a lesser amount < vi pug than that previously passed through. i (jojlen Ape.—The manager reports tha; \ th- drive on th- footwall portion i.f the I (ioldeu Age reef seaward has b'-en advan'-d ..'.'iff. The t-cpf is a strong body of quartz. '. wider than the drive, and carrying a fair '" amount of silica, blend and sulphide. Progress is slow with hand-stei I. ..wing to the ;" hard nature of th- reef. Lucky Shot —The manager reports that 0 the crosscut has been advanced a furthi r ■ loft, making a total distau-e of Soft from * the main level. The country is becoming | much firmer, and carries heavily mineralised ' seams Tbe last few slwrs have exposed a 1 reef Ift wide coming in from the footwall .'side of the break. Owing to the influence of the l.reak it will be n-cessary to drive 0 on the reef a few feet to ascertain i-s true r direction :in doing so the junction with th--3 Dawn of Hope reef should be picked up.
