SYNOD GATHERINGS.
LAN" '-'AT HOME" AT BLSHOPSCOURT. I The annual festival of St. John's College Association was held this morning at the college, Tamaki. Holy Communion was celebrated in tbe chapel at 10 a.m. There was a large attendance of members of the association, who were entertained by the warden. An "at home" is being held at Bishopscourt, St. Stephen's Avenue, this afternoon. Archbishop Averill and ATrs. Averill are entertaining members of Synod and their wive?. "Synod Sunday" will be observed at St. Mary's Cathedral to-morrow, when his Grace the Archbishop will be the celebrant at Holy Communion at 8 a.m. The headmaster of King's College will preach during morning prayer at 11 a.m. At evensong, the preacher will be the Rev. A. If. Xihlock, vicar of St. Augustine's. Stanley Bay. Visiting clergy will occupy the pulpitof various city and suburban churches of the Anglican communion to-morrow. At a solemn high celebration of the Holy Eucharist at St. Paul's, Symonds Street, the preacher will be the Rev. X. Robertshawe, ex-chaplain of King's College, now vicar of fliame s . Rev. W. .T. Tiieot will preach during festal evensong. The Rev. Wm. Panapa will occupy the pulpit ar St. Matthew's at 7 p.m. The vicar of Whangarei, Rev. H. T. Steele, will preach at St. Barnabas' Church, Mount Eden, at 11 a.m.. and the Rev. X. Roberthshawe will preach in the same church in the j evening. I A conference of lay readers is to be held in the Synod Hall on Monday at 10 a.m.. when his Grace the Archbishop will preside. Business sessions of Synod will be continued in Synod Hall. Parnell. on Monday and Tuesday, commencing at 2.30 p.m. Holy Communion is celebrated in the Cathedral each mornimr at eight o'clock, and evensong is said nightly at seven. On Tuesday morning at seven o'clock a solemn h : _b celebration of the Holy Eucharist will take place in St. Paul's. Symonds Street.
