LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
STORMONT SHIELD RULES. PROPOSED CHANGE TURNED DOWN. At the weekly meeting last night of the A.R.L. Executive, a motion by Mr. K. Doble that the challenge match for the Stormont Shield should be between the champion team and the team of the club paining most points in the second round of the competition, was discussed. The motion also included a proposal that a third of the gate takings should go to the League, and the remainder divided between the two playing teams on a sixty-forty basis.. The latter part of the motion found considerable support, but the first part was not favoured and the motion was lost, and Mr. Doble gave notice of motion to bring up again the matter of gate takings on the lines his motion had suggested. Tbe Auckland Public Schools Assistant Masters' Association wrote stating that it would receive a deputation from the Auckland League at its next meeting on a date to be arranged in November. The subject to be discussed will be the introduction of League football into the liral schools. It was decided to donate £5 toward the expenses of the annual picnic of the League Glee Club, on October 31. In the case of J. Stormont.
