LEAGUE TEAM'S WIN. THE GAME DESCRIBED. BLACKS HANDICAPPED BY RULES. WIN IN SECOND SPELL. (By Cγ. , 'le.—rrcss Association.—Copyright.) (Received 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, September 12. Sixtuen thousand ■watched the League All Blacks at J>ewsbury. They wero j handicapped in tlie first half by a strong wind, and lark of acquaintance with the • intricacies of the rules, especially \ regarding tlie scrimmnge, in which they ! did not obtain possession as frequently as they might. They wore also misled by the referee's blue coat, which resembled the players' jerseys. The referee later appeared without a coat.
Lyman's penalty goal was the onlr score in the first half, but he missed two others. In the second spell the blacks showed gTeatly improved form. Hall broke away and passed to Sanders, who kicked. A Dewsbury player pulled him down, and the referee awarded a penalty, from which Dufty goaled. Dewsbury then made a successful run, ending in Ryan obtaining a try, which Lyman converted. The blacks gallantly rose to the occasion. Kirwan and Davideon combined in a run to score, and Dufty again goaled. Lyman again kicked a penalty goal, and then Avery ran in, Dufty's kick striking an upright. Finally a brilliant run by Avery, Hall and Mouatt saw the last score. Critics declare that Hall is a glutton for work, and that Cole and Gardiner are excellent. They expect better displays in the future. New Zealand scored three tries and two goals, Dewsbury one try and three goals. The blacks missed several chances owing to defective passes.
