TAURANGA. Mr. C. E. Macmillan, M.P., preside, over a very large attendance of char« holders at the annual meeting of the Tatt ranga Co-operative Dairy Association, lAi, The directors' report, previously circulated with the balance sheet, was adopted, and stated that the season's output hail been 566 tons of butter, a decrease of 13 tone in the previous year. In view of the exceptionally dry season the result was considered satisfactory. In a table submitted by the chairman in his report, it was shown that as a result of the strict grading of cream, the number of boxes of butter grading 92 points and over had Increased from 2597 in 1923-24 to 11,736 in 1925-26, representing on the basis of payment by the Dairy Control Board, the sum of £1031 in added values. Most gratifying had been the fact that 4903 boxes had graded 93 points and over, a standard that had hitherto not been attained. Mr. Macmillan emphasised the fact that a great saving would be made if all Bay of Plenty dairy companies combined to secure cold storage at Tauranga. Overseas shipping companies were prepared to lift pro-, dnce where grading stores are established and forward to the ports of departure by auxiliary vessels free, whereas last year the company had paid £1028 in freight to Auckland, and £841 in freezing charges. In the event of Tauranga being made a grading port the whole of the former amount would be saved, and a portion of the latter would benefit local bodies, who supplied warpr and electricity, etc., to the stores. He hoped to continue a campaiga to achieve that object, and prospects of' success were now much improved, as harbour boards now had the necessary authority to erect colfl stores, and railway transport was available to Taneatua. Mr. Macmillan claimed that uo other company had made better arrangements for the supply of fertilisers to its suppliers, and it was proposed to devote a farther £1000 of capital to the purchase o£ fertilisers. The following directors were elected :— Messrs. K. J. Gilniore, M. D. Meares, H. G. Lever and H. Wade. Mr. R. L. Thomas was re-elected auditor. ; At a meeting of the Tauranga Eaeecours* Domain Board, it was decided to concrete thetop of the terraces in front of the pavilion, and to carry out an extension ,(> the booth, also to alter and improve the fence and gateways at the main entrance. The Bay of Plenty Jockey Club will als* carry out certain improvements. MOKRINSVILLE.
